Meeting at the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs

On April 10 the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan received Reiner Morell, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the RA.

Koryun Nahapetyan welcomed the continuous development of the Armenian-German relations in bilateral and multilateral formats. The deepening of military cooperation between the two countries was especially highlighted. The sides highly assessed the support shown during the recent years to the RA defensive reforms, the preparation and training of the military human resources and the joint participation in the operations for providing international stability in Afghanistan. In this context, the military education was paid a key attention as the most important component of the reforms being implemented in the armed forces.

In the course of the meeting the sides underlined the efficiency of the Armenian peacekeepers’ mission in Afghanistan in the commanders’ staff of the German Armed forces.

The interlocutors also discussed issues concerning the Armenian-German inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the perspectives of the practical cooperation at the level of the parliamentary relevant committees.

The sides touched upon the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial and problems of the regional security.
