EP Genocide resolution oath to European values
Armenia’s minister of education and science on Thursday expressed his high esteem of the European Parliament’s Genocide Resolution which he described as an oath to European set of values.
Armen Ashotyan said he doesn’t find that the condemnation of atrocious crimes against humanity should ever depend on anyone’s political interests.
The minister, who is also a vice chair of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, added that in the run-up to the Genocide centennial, the Armenians people expect more political resolutions and documents by the civilized world, especially political institutions.
“The debate and the voting over a corresponding resolution at the European Parliament was an oath to the European set of values. Denial is blameworthy as it is,” he said, noting the European People’s Party (of which the Republican is an observer member), had its contribution to a constructive debate, as the biggest political faction in the European Parliament.
