Powerful earthquake strikes Nepal: Damage reported
A 7.9-magnitude earthquake has struck 80km east of the city of Pokhara, Nepal, Russia Today reports, citing the US Geological Survey.
Some buildings have reportedly collapsed in the capital, Kathmandu. Witnesses said the tremors had also been felt in India.
Shortly after the earthquake, the USGS raised the initial 7.5-magnitude of the quake to 7.9.
There have been no official reports of damage or injuries. However, Reuters witness said some buildings in Kathmandu had collapsed.
Locals on Twitter post numerous photos of apparent damage in Kathmandu and say there have been human losses following the earthquake. No official confirmation from the authorities has been released yet.
Some tremors were reportedly felt in some cities in northern India, including the capital, New Delhi, witnesses told Reuters.
