Book ‘Writer-victims of the Armenian Genocide’ published
Literary critic Arkmenik Nikoghosyan and poet Ashot Gabrielyan have published a volume entitled “Writer-victims of the Armenian Genocide”.
The volume contains works created by 31 Armenian writers during the Armenian Genocide in Western Armenia.
Twenty-one of the writers are not at all known to the Armenian public, Mr Nikoghosyan said.
“This is the result of two-year work, and clarifying the writers’ names and preparing the texts requires the greatest efforts. The press of Western Armenia was our main source. I should note that among the victims were not only writers in Western Armenia, but also those born in Eastern Armenia who were working in Western Armenia at that time, Garegin Khazhak, for example,” Mr Nikoghosyan said.
The Armenian Genocide put an end to about 300 newspapers and magazines, which suggests that numerous people were engaged in creative activities in Western Armenia.
The initiative will be developed and the volume will be translated into many languages, including Turkish, Mr Nikoghosyan said.
