American observer hails Artsakh elections as model of democracy
The Nagorno-Karabakh parliamentary elections were transparent, free and fair and corresponded to international norms, Karin Mac Donald, Director, the Election Administration Research Center, University of California, Berkeley Law (Election and Monitoring Specialist), told a news conference on Wednesday.
She said that this is not only her view, but that of all American observers.
“I am impressed by the professionalism and devotion we have noticed in the entire process,” Karin Mac Donald said.
The American observer welcomed women’s involvement in the organization and observation of the electoral process and the presence of women candidates in the May 3 parliamentary elections in Artsakh.
“The elections were competitive. We consider the Artsakh elections as a model of democracy,” said the observer, adding that these elections testify to the fact that the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a democratic country.
