ICRC reps visit Armenian serviceman in Azerbaijan
Representatives of the Azerbaijan office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have visited an Armenian serviceman Arsen Baghdasaryan who was detained in Aghdam, Azerbaijan, last December.
Ilaha Huseynova, head of Communication Department of the ICRC Baku Office told the APA that the visit took place a few days ago.
The ICRC representatives handed messages from his family to Arsen Baghdasaryan and his family will be informed about his condition.
Huseynova also mentioned that according to its mandate, the ICRC visits detainees to monitor their treatment and conditions of detention and to help to ensure that the detainees are able to maintain contact with their families.
Azerbaijan mass media reported that Arsen Baghdasaryan was detained in the territory of Azerbaijan on December 26, 2014.
Later, the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) reported that contract serviceman Arsen Baghdasaryan had often been absent without leave and the command suspended him from duty for violating discipline.
