Polish companies interested in implementing investment projects in Armenia – Ambassador

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received newly appointed Ambassador of Poland to Armenia Jerzy Nowakowski, the Armenian government’s press office reports.

Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, the Armenian PM wished him fruitful work. Pleased with the current level of bilateral interstate relations, Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the need for further steps aimed at developing economic cooperation.

In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted the role of the Armenian-Polish intergovernmental commission and expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Commission’s meeting held last December. Considering that the Commission’s next meeting is scheduled for the fall of 2015, the parties stressed the need for organizing a joint business forum on its sidelines.

Conveying warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz, Jerzy Nowakowski stressed the importance of deepening and expanding bilateral relations. He said that several Polish companies are interested in implementing investment projects in Armenia and importing Armenian products. It was noted that steps are underway to this end.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that the ongoing work will help enhance economic ties and commodity turnover between Armenia and Poland to a new level in the near future. At the same time, Jerzy Nowakowski emphasized that Armenia may become a gateway for Polish enterprises to get access to Eurasian markets.

Referring to bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian area, Jerzy Nowakowski said that work is underway to open a Center for Armenian Studies at the Jagiellonian University that will help implement joint projects in the field of education. The Ambassador thanked the Armenian authorities for thoughtfulness of the needs of the Polish community in Armenia.

Down to the regional agenda, the interlocutors stressed the need for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. During the meeting, the parties took the opportunity to address other issues of mutual interest.
