Russia expects EEU’s UN observer status ok’ed in September
Russia is hopeful that the United Nations will give the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) the status of an observer at its General Assembly’s session in September.
“We are hopeful that the EEU will be granted an observer status at the General Assembly’s 70th session. We are coordinating the activities to push ahead with the project with the partners,” Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said as quoted by the news agency TASS.
So far, the United Nations has granted an observer status to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) , the EU and the League of Arab States.
