Vahagn Gevorgyan elected Mayor of Abovyan
Vahagn Gevorgyan, expert at the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Territorial Management, has been elected Mayor of Abovyan in the elections held on June 7. He received 11,227 votes, Central Electoral Commission’s representative told Panorama.am.
His main rival, Arthur Harutyunyan, nicknamed Palach, got 5,459 votes. The second Arthur Harutyunyan, former Mayor Karapet Israyelyan and Edwin Tadevosyan received 159, 526 and 520 votes, respectively. 18,535 voters participated in the elections, while the total number of eligible voters is 43,807.
