National Assembly Speaker hosts Iran-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group
The speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly on Thursday received a delegation led by Ali Kaeidi, the head of Iran-Armenia Friendship Group.
Welcoming the guests in parliament, Galust Sahakyan noted with satisfaction that Armenia-Iran relations continue developing in an atmosphere of mutual trust. The Head of the parliament highlighted the implementation of the economic programs within the designed terms, considering them a good opportunity for raising the relations to a qualitatively new level. Sahakyan also highly praised the Islamic Republic authorities’ warm attitude authorities to the Armenians of Iran, reports the National Assembly’s press service.
Addressing the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide centennial, the parliament speaker said that representatives from about 60 countries took part in the Global Forum held in Armenia from April 22 to 24 and the ceremonies commemorating the Genocide victims. Mr Sahakyan told the guests about the National Assembly’s initiative to create the inter-parliamentary platform “Parliaments against Genocide” to embark on an international cooperation for the prevention and condemnation of crimes of genocide.
Thanking for the warm reception, Ali Kaeidi, emphasized the active cooperation of the parliamentary delegations. Commenting on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Iranian official reiterated his country’s position backing a peaceful negotiated settlement.
