Armenian NA vice-speaker receives Belarusian ambassador

Armenian Parliament Vice-Speaker, Co-Chairman of the Armenian-Belarusian parliamentary cooperation commission Eduard Sharmazanov received on Wednesday Belarusian Ambassador to Armenia Stepan Sukhorenko.

The sides discussed development of bilateral interparliamentary ties, cooperation within international organizations, political and economic relations. The sides also discussed issues of drawing the agenda of the forthcoming 9th meeting of the Armenian-Belarusian parliamentary cooperation commission in Minsk, cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Community and events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In this context, Mr Sharmazanov noted that leading nations must combine their efforts to battle terrorism, fascism and xenophobia. Speaking of regional security, Mr Sharmazanov stressed the importance of a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group, with a balanced approach by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member-states.
