The export of Armenian apricot from the Ararat valley justifies all the expectations
The export of Armenian apricot from the Ararat valley justifies all the expectations, the "Haykakan Zhamanak" says, citing the Agriculture Ministry’s Food Security Service.
The findings, provided to the paper on Monday, have reportedly revealed that a total of 2,695 tons of the fruit were exported this summer.
The paper says that the export volumes as of June 22, 2013 (the year which was considered the most abundant in terms of the apricot harvest) were no more than 6.7 tons. It adds further that the product is mostly exported to Georgia and the Russian Federation. Exporters speaking to the paper have admitted that the business is such that it can ensure either a great income or cause a great damage just within a day.
