Obama sends secret message to Iran amid nuke talks
US President Barack Obama has sent a secret message to the Iranian leadership concerning the ongoing nuclear talks, an Iranian lawmaker said Monday.
Parliament Board member Mehrdad Bazrpash told the local daily Hamshahri that the letter had been received recently but declined to specify further.
He said it concerned Iran’s nuclear issue but refused to divulge any details or the addressee, reports Sputniknews.com.
The message is thought to have been brought over by visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi, who came to Iran with a one-day visit in mid-June, days after he had met with Obama on the margins of the G7 summit in Germany’s Bavaria.
Iran and the six world powers – the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany – have to clinch a final deal on Iran’s nuclear issue until June 30 that will proscribe its activities in exchange for the easing of sanctions. Media reports on Sunday indicated that the talks may go beyond the deadline.
