CoE chief cancels trip to Georgia amid Greek crisis
The Council of Europe president’s scheduled trip to Georgia has been cancelled due to the talks over the Greece debt crisis, RIA Novosti reports, citing the TV Channel Rustaivi 2.
Donald Tusk was earlier reported to be planning a two-day trip to the country later this week. He was invited by President Giorgi Margvelashvili. The European official was set to conduct talks with the speaker and members of the Georgian parliament, as well as visit a border zone and South Ossetia.
“The visit was cancelled due to the talks in Greece,” the Georgian TV channel reported, citing Tusk’s press service.
The presidential administration said in an official statement later that they hadn’t yet received an official confirmation.
