Channel Tunnel migrant crisis: Man dies as 1,500 try to enter
A man has been killed as at least 1,500 migrants tried to enter the Channel Tunnel in Calais on Tuesday night, the BBC reports quoting French police as saying.
It came as David Cameron pledged that the UK government would do everything it could to combat the crisis.
Speaking as the UK confirmed a £7m ($11m) of funding for new fencing at the terminal, the prime minister said the situation was "very concerning".
The man is the ninth to die at the Channel Tunnel terminal this summer.
He was Sudanese, aged between 25 and 30, according to the France Info website.
He is reported to have been crushed by a truck.
Eurotunnel - which manages and operates Channel Tunnel services - says migrant incursions are now "an almost nightly occurrence" - in addition to Tuesday night's incident, some 2,000 migrants had tried to get into the terminal on Monday night.
