The post of Armenia’s minister of justice has remained vacant for 15 days
The post of Armenia’s minister of justice has remained vacant for 15 days though the Armenian Parliament’s lobby is sure Koryun Nahapetyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, Parliament of Armenia, will be appointed to the post.
Some cite two reasons for the delay. Mr Nahapetyan was elected to parliament from the 8th election district of Yerevan, and authorities need time to decide on his successor in a snap election, which is to take place within 40 days after an MP is appointed minister.
If Mr Nahapetyan is appointed, the posts of chairmen of the aforementioned parliamentary committee and of the head of Armenian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will remain vacant.
According to the information at the newspaper’s disposal, Levon Martirosyan and Khosrov Harutyunyan are likely candidates for the posts of NATO Parliamentary Assembly and of chairman of the aforementioned parliamentary committee respectively.
