Republican party supports government’s programs, finds no sense of PM’s resignation – RPA faction head
This parliament works with natural course, and we manage to ensure its normal work, head of the Republican party’s faction Vahram Baghdasaryan told the reporters today, referring to the necessity of snap parliamentary elections.
“I do not think that the next National Assembly will be more political than this one,” he noted.
As to observation that it is unnatural to have opposition majority in the parliament, Baghdasaryan said, “It is unnatural but there are no obstacles yet. The interest of the political field is agreed with such unnatural phenomena.”
The head of the faction also noted that he does not see any causes for Pashinyan’s resignation as of the moment. As to the concern that if Pashinyan files resignation the risk is big that the Republican may forward other candidate and elect him, Baghdasaryan said, “In political field all the steps are risky. What happened in Armenia was more risky. In general you should not avoid risk if you want to reach a result. Currently we have no such decision, but I think Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation has no sense. Nothing impedes him from doing his work. We support and must support government’s programs. We will not create any obstacles.”
The head of the faction stressed that together with the political developments there is a need of constitutional reforms but still it must be clarified what changes are necessary to make.
“There is no concrete proposal, we just hear statements. As soon as we get written proposal we will discuss it and voice our political decision,” he said.
