Irrespective of any nomination revolution would have occurred – Vahram Baghdasryan
Head of the Republican party faction Vahram Baghdasaryan does not agree with the observation of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan that the constitutional reforms and attempts of Serzh Sargsyan to rule for the third term caused revolution in Armenia.
Baghdasaryan stressed that the issue of passing to parliamentary governance system was discussed long ago and the time came for it.
He stressed that the revolution is neither agreed with nomination of Serzh Sargsyan in the post of the Prime Minister of the country.
“We were the parliamentary majority and together with our coalition partners were to nominate a candidate. Now I have no doubts that our candidate was a right one regarding our country’s security,” he stressed.
“As to our attempts to keep power in our hands, I will say that the Republican was the one to nominate candidate. If not Serzh Sargsyan than other and it would have still be our authority. I think in case of any candidate this revolutionary process would have taken place,” Baghdasaryan stressed.
As to whether the Republican party is ready for cooperation with Kocharyan, Baghdasaryan stressed that the Republican has never avoided cooperation with anyone.
“If Robert Kocharyan comes up to the political field we will discuss it,” he said.
