Turkish citizen wanted by US law enforcers arrested in Armenia
Armenia’s Police’s officers from the Chief Department for Fighting Organized Crime in collaboration with National Central Interpol Bureau in Armenia discovered August 29 in Yerevan Turkish citizen Kevin Oksuz wanted by the USA law enforcement bodies.
Oksuz has established a company for starting business in Armenia, Armenia’s Police press service reports.
An international search has been declared for Oksuz on August 23. He is accused of falsification of materials, submission of false declaration.
Oksuz was the chairman of Turkish-American and Eurasian public, non-profit organization which worked on establishing close ties between Turks and Americans by organizing tours to Turkey and Azerbaijan.
In 2013 Oksuz invited few US Congressmen for private tours to Azerbaijan and Turkey. The visits were regulated by Ethics Commission in accordance with US tour regulation. According to this regulation, the sponsors of the trip are to fulfill special forms to clarify the financial sources for covering the trip expenses. As a supposed organizer of the trip Oksuz submitted to the Ethics Commission falsified documents, according to which the organization has not received financial means from any direct or indirect sources. It appeared, though, that the organization headed by Oksuz has not in fact covered the expenses but received funds from Azerbaijani government’s “SOCAR” oil-mining company.
It also appeared that 9 members of the US Congress and 32 staff members received gifts amounting to hundreds of thousand USD.
Oksuz is arrested.
