Embezzlements amounting to huge sums revealed in Martik Foundation, charges forwarded against Arthur Aghabekyan

Embezzlements amounting to huge sums have been revealed in Martik Foundation, charges have been forwarded against the chairman of the Board of Trustees Arthur Aghabekyan.

According to Armenia’s Investigative Committee statement, the criminal case has been filed on the basis of an application submitted by member of Yerevan City Council Yelk faction Anahit Bakhshyan in July 2018.

An investigative plan has been worked out and necessary operative actions carried out.

The Foundation has been created in 2002 aimed at training, educating the officer staff of Armenia’s Armed Forces, support development of military education, work out educational programs, organize the training of military officers and pay for their education.

As a result of studies it has been found out that the Foundation directed its means for completely opposite purposes. According to initial calculations, the embezzlements reached to 54, 083, 860 million AMD. During that period of time the chairman of the foundation was Arthur Aghabekyan who was managing the property of the foundation alone.

On the basis of the acquired evidences charges have been forwarded against Arthur Aghabekyan. Preventive measure against him has been chosen signature on not leaving the country.

The investigation is underway.
