Republican lawmakers propose expansion of bill on provision of compensation to March 1 victims
Member of the parliamentary Yelk faction Alen Simonyan presented today at the session of NA’s State-Legal and Human Rights Protection Standing Committee a bill on provision of compensation to the families of the victims and the injured during the demonstrations on March 1,2, 2018.
The bill is presented for already the second time. First time it was presented by that time opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan but was rejected by the majority of the lawmakers.
This time though the chairman of the Committee Gevorg Kostanyan stated that they are for the bill but have their own proposals as well.
“We are going to submit proposal and expand the bill and turn it into compensations to victims of violent crimes, including to the families of October 27 victims, servicemen killed in peaceful conditions. We are putting an expanded concept in the basis of the bill,” Kostanyan said.
Committee member Arpine Hovhanissyan in her turn stressed that October 27 is also a crime and those who suffered from it must get compensations too.
Kostanyan stated that the committee will discuss the bill at its upcoming sessions.
