Number of tourists visiting Nagorno Karabkh grows by 41%
The number of tourists visiting Nagorno Karabakh in the first part of 2018 has grown by 41% as compared with the same span of 2017.
Speaking to Artsakhpress, head of tourism department of Karabakh’s Culture, Youth Affairs Tourism Ministry Artak Grigoryan said that the geography of tourists visiting Karabakh has expanded.
“During previous year Artsakh hosted thousands of tourists from 95 countries, the majority of them came from Russia, the USA, France, Iran, European and other countries. In 2017 for the first time we had guests from Cameroon, Mongolia, Salvador,” the official said.
The tourists are mainly interested in Artsakh’s beautiful nature, historic-cultural monuments, and Gandzasar monastery complex, Tigranakert in particular.
“After the exploitation of Vardenis-Martakert highway a big flow of tourists has been noticed to Dadivank monastery complex. I would also like to outline Shushi as a separate tourism center,” he said.
