Armenia’s SIS confirms charges against ex PM, presents details
Armenia’s Special Investigation Service confirmed the charges brought against Armenia’s ex Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and application of signature bond on not leaving the country.
SIS informed Aysor.am that criminal charges against Abrahamyan relate to abuse of power and embezzlement. No other information has been provided. Preliminary investigation is underway.
The criminal case relates to Avazahatik company, the director of which reported on Hovik Abrahamyan and his brother. The name of ex police chief Alik Sargsyan is also mentioned in the case.
Earlier the SIS has stated that on the basis of the report of Avazahatik company’s director a criminal case has been filed and investigative actions were carried out as a result of which it has been found out that the company was established in Ararat province in 2000 and worked in the sphere of mine industry.
By engaging loan means the company made capital investments amounting to 80,000 USD and acquired sand washing and sieve pipelines. In 2008 high ranking officials started creating artificial obstacles demanding 60% shares of the company. They insisted on forming the shares on two different persons - 30/30 to each.
In his report the director of the company mentioned the names of Hovik Abrahamyan, his brother Jonik Abrahamyan and Alik Sargsyan.
