Speaking about concessions senseless in conditions of Azerbaijan’s continuous military rhetoric – Armenia’s PM
As Armenia’s Prime Minister I am authorized to negotiate on behalf of Armenia over Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, but I am not authorized to negotiate on behalf of the Karabakh Republic, with a simple reason – Karabakh people do not participate in formation of power in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview to DM’s Zinuzh program.
He said the statement he made previously over the necessity of Karabakh’s return to the table of negotiations fits the statements of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
“Media representatives often ask me whether the Armenian side is ready for mutual concessions. We say the Armenian side has many times expressed its peaceful position. Why does not any one ask Azerbaijan whether it is ready for concessions? This is a very important observation as besides military rhetoric and threats we do not hear anything else from Azerbaijan. Thus, I consider it senseless to speak about concessions. It may be a wrong message for Armenian, Azerbaijani and international community implying that we have any concerns or fears from Azerbaijani military rhetoric,” Pashinyan said.
He stressed that stating about concessions is a wrong approach as the Armenian government, Armenia’s Supreme Commander-in-Chief realize the whole responsibility they bear.
Pashinyan also noted that the international community understands the serious issues the military actions in the region may create for Europe. This concern was reiterated by Merkel during her visit as well.
