Transitional justice relates to corruption only – Armenia’s PM
Transitional justice is not an illegal tool, it may be established only in accordance with the law, in the sidelines of Constitution which is an internationally accepted step, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today in Moscow at the meeting with local Armenian business community, Armenpress reports.
“It does not relate to business in any way. It relates only to corruption. No redistribution of property is going to take place. But I do not exclude a corruption case where it will appear that a high-ranking official has actives amounting to tens of millions of dollars and property and these seized actives be returned to the republic in accordance with legislation,” the PM stressed.
He said the authorities are forced to apply such steps as it may appear that a very big part of national wealth is in offshore zones. “We cannot put up with it. The transition justice will allow cooperation with international establishments and find and return these actives,” Pashinyan stressed.
The PM though stressed that they will not establish it until elimination of all the concerns connected with it. “The most important thing for us is the trust toward the developments taking place in Armenia. We have nothing more valuable than this trust,” the PM concluded.
