Armenian PM tells how Khachaturov appeared in freedom
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan detailed today at the NA-Government Q&A on how Yuri Khachaturov appeared in freedom.
He said he continuously received calls from the National Security Service (NSS) and answered, “If the investigative body has decided that he must be detained, it means he must be detained as we have agreed that no political impediments must appear in this criminal case.”
Pashinyan said the NSS director ten times called him over this topic. “For me the important thing in this case was if it is necessary to detain, then he should be detained,” Pashinyan stressed.
He added that the NSS director called him and said that the judicial system was “in panic” claiming that there are no grounds. After it he called the SIS chief. “He said we are investigative body and we know what we are doing,” Pashinyan said.
He said he was tired of the situation when different judges were calling him and asking his opinion over the case. “I told them not to bother me with this issue anymore,” the PM said.
The premier said he has received oral motion from the leaders of all the CSTO member states requesting to change Khachaturov’s preventive measure. “I have called the SIS chief and told him about this motion and said I also join it and if possible this variant be discussed,” the PM said.
