Robert Kocharyan’s case directed from the very beginning – attorney team
After listening to the wiretapped conversation between the National Security Service director and Special Investigation Service chief and the followed statement of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the attorney group of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan has concluded that Kocharyan is being persecuted illegally.
Speaking at a news conference today attorney Hayk Alumyan noted that it becomes clear from the conversation that the judge has agreed his actions with the NSS director who displayed ignorance toward the judge.
According to the attorney, Kocharyan’s detention took place with “unprecedented violations” of the European Convention on Human Rights and Basic Freedoms.
“The most pessimistic concerns of Robert Kocharyan’s attorney team have been confirmed. The case has been directed from the very beginning and the outcome has already been decided,” Alumyan said.
The attorney also expressed concern over the silence of human rights defender NGOs and individuals.
The team also stressed that all the state bodies must give equivalent legal assessment to the case.
