Armenia’s PM, French President stress the necessity of exclusively peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met today in Elysee Palace with President of France Emmanuel Macron. After the welcoming ceremony the leaders of the two countries continued talks around working dinner table, governmental press service reports.
Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Armenian Prime Minister and attached significance to his visit to France, expressing conviction that it will contribute to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
The French president stressed that France is ready to continue efforts toward expansion of close cooperation with Armenia in different directions.
Macron said that in a month he will pay a state visit to Armenia and voiced conviction that the Francophone summit to be held in Yerevan will be conducted on high level.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Nikol Pashinyan noted that their already second meeting testifies the peculiar relations between Armenia and France which will continue developing in future for the favor of the two countries. The premier stressed that the Armenian-French relations will continue developing in all the fields.
“I am convinced that our meeting will give new impetus to our special relations which are based on ancient long historic friendship,” Pashinyan said.
The Armenian premier attached significance to the conduction of Francophone summit in Armenia and said it is one of the most important events in Yerevan since Armenia’s independence. Pashinyan reaffirmed the commitment of the Armenian government to ensure successful conduction of the summit and stressed that it will contribute to the increase of Francophone authority and influence in future.
The parties also exchanged thoughts over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation and the necessity of its exclusively peaceful settlement in the sidelines of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Nikol Pashinyan praised the efforts of the co-chairing countries including France addressed toward peaceful settlement of the conflict and establishment of peace in the region. The prime minister stressed that Armenia is committed to continue peaceful negotiations for reaching final peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Emmanuel Macron and Nikol Pashinyan agreed to thoroughly discuss the Armenian-French relations’ agenda issues during French president’s upcoming visit to Armenia.
