Search in Yerevan.Today attempt to silence the media: Editor-in-chief
The search in Yerevan.Today is an attempt to silence the media which criticizes the existing unacceptable phenomena in the country, editor-in-chief Sevak Hakobyan said at a news conference today, speaking about the search of the office by the law enforcers.
“They were searching for wiretapping devices and other materials relating to the wiretapped case,” the editor-in-chief said.
“Such actions are aimed at giving lessons to other mass media criticizing the existing unhealthy phenomena,” he added.
The media is planning to apply to Armenian and international organizations dealing with press freedom.
The law enforcers carried out search in the media’s office on September 17 and seized the hard disks of the computers.
Earlier speaking about the reasons of the search Hakobyan explained that because of technical problems the web site showed the wiretapped conversation between the NSS director Artur Vanetsyan and SIS chief Sasun Khachatryan earlier while he claimed it is a technical mistake and Yerevan.Today published this information the last one.
