Armenia’s FM briefs to Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Armenia’s priorities in Karabakh conflict regulation
Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received today Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic, MFA press service reports.
Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia and Council of Europe are united with general human values and the cooperation with the Commissioner’s office is a priority for Armenia.
The interlocutors attached significance to the first visit of Mijatovic to Armenia as a commissioner, stressing that it gives good opportunity for getting familiarized with the human rights situation in the country and outline the further directions for cooperation. In this regard the parties highly assessed the role of Armenia’s active civil society.
During the meeting the interlocutors referred to the legislative changes in Armenia, prospects of Armenia-Council of Europe cooperation.
The minister briefed to the commissioner on the Armenian priorities in the Karabakh conflict regulation issue . Zohrabyan said that Artsakh has joined the UN Human Rights basic documents, ratified them and successfully implements.
He added that human rights continue being universal values and cooperation on their protection must also be universal without exclusions.
