Kocharyan describes Armenia’s PM as “rapidly burning meteorite”
Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan in an interview to Russian Kommersant stated that he will get involved in political processes in Armenia.
“It will be a party, or a movement, or active support to one of the existing parties, it may be personal or impersonal,” he said, adding that he has not decided the format of his participation in political processes yet. “I do not know what is going on in Armenia yet, and I think no one does,” he said, admitting though that transition of power took place in Armenia.
“I think Pashinyan felt the right time and took the power. It was quite impressive,” Kocharyan said, adding that people were tired of the previous authorities.
“Otherwise such mass movement would not have occurred. You can come to power on populism, there are many examples of it. In such cases it is easy to come but difficult to leave. You come on populism but you should leave with dignity and leave real results. These four months showed that accumulation of problems continues in all directions and this is one of the reasons why I return,” he stated.
In his words the four-month period is enough to understand the level of competency of the power, its values and whether it is capable of systematic work. “During this period though I have understood that the new authorities are chaotic, do not understand economy, lack action plan,” he stressed.
“There is a quite bright leader but his strive to populism raises serious concerns. It reminds me Latin-American populism in "Ugo Chavez style". If to view closer and pass analogues they are quite similar,” Kocharyan noted.
He said Pashinyan is like a meteorite or comet which burns down very quickly.
