Amulsar mine must be exploited: chief specialist

Chief specialist of Armenia’s Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ministry’s Mining Agency Gevorg Torosyan claims Lydian Armenia company has received Amulsar mine exploitation permission legally.

Recently Gevorg Torosyan, Healthcare Minister Arsen Trosyan’s father, attended round table discussion dedicated to Amulsar exploitation issue. Environmentalist Silva Adamyan wrote in her Facebook page that Torosyan attended the discussion, offended public figures, scientists and stated that it is government’s position.

Speaking to Aysor.am correspondent, Torosyan said he cannot voice government’s position and spoke as a specialist of the sphere.

“The event was an organized action against Amulsar while I stated that Amulsar should work. People gathered there did not like this position and mutual offences and disputes followed,” the specialist said, apologizing to participants of discussion who were offended by his words.

He stressed he works in the sphere for quite long and added that the right for exploitation of Amulsar mine has been given, and the mine should be exploited.

“The company has received the right for mine’s exploitation. This right is neither suspended nor annulled,” Torosyan noted.

Asked whether the company received this right legally, Torosyan said, “They received the right in accordance with the strictest requirements of the law.”
