PAP candidate declines proposed debate format, offers another

Prosperous Armenia Party mayoral candidate Naira Zohrabyan reiterated her position and claimed that she will not participate in the debate with the ten other candidates in the proposed format.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, she said that with respect toward all the candidates she will only debate with candidate Hayk Marutyan.

“Hayk Marutyan is the only candidate who said we are invincible, he is the only to say we are whites, the others are black, he is the only one who claims we will come, we will win, thus I am ready to debate exclusively with My Step alliance’s mayoral candidate,” Zohrabyan said.

As to participation in debate program of Public TV, Zohrabyan described it “absurd” claiming that there can be no debate with preliminary recording.

“My opinion is that debates should be live. The proposed format is an offence addressed to us. The Public TV serves the interests of one of the candidates. So, I offerMy Step alliance’s mayoral candidate choose the agenda and TV channel for live debates,” she said.
