Catholicos of Cilicia Aram I urges to avoid statements causing domestic polarization

His Holiness Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I addressed a message on the occasion of 27th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, stressing that the independent homeland had both its flaws and successes but it continued statebuilding work with active participation of the Armenian people.

“It is not a common task to strengthen and blossom the homeland, it is a special mission,” the Catholicos stressed, adding that current Armenia faces new challenges and their confrontation demands participation of all Armenians.

Referring to the current situation in Armenia, His Holiness said, “The homeland is on the crossroad full of anxiety, thus, the domestic unity is a must.”

He urged to avoid inner polarization and statements that may create tensions both in Armenia and Diaspora. “We must unite over our homeland. Our unity is source of strength and a guarantee for Armenia’s and its peoples’ success,” he said.

He also stressed the necessity of strengthening lawfulness in Armenia, improving living conditions of the people, ensuring economic development, strengthening of Karabakh’s independence and expansion of Armenia's international relations.

Aram I also spoke about the core role of the Armenian army in keeping the country’s independence.
