Yerevan residents head to polling stations to elect new mayor
Yerevan residents are heading today from 8 a.m. to polling stations to elect new mayor of the city. The voting process for 853,390 eligible voters will be held between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. local time at 475 polling stations across Yerevan. Four alliances and 8 parties are participating in the elections.
The participating forces are:
Prosperous Armenia Party with mayoral candidate Naira Zohrabyan
Yerevan community with mayoral candidate Anahit Tarkhanyan
Yerevantsiner alliance with mayoral candidate Ararat Zurabyan
Yerkir Tsirani with candidate Zaruhi Postanjyan
Heritage Party with mayoral candidate Raffi Hovhannisian
Democratic Line party with mayoral candidate Manuel Gasparyan
My Step alliance with mayoral candidate Hayk Marutyan
Luys alliance with mayoral candidate Artak Zeynalyan
ARF-D party with mayoral candidate Michael Manukyan
Hayk party with mayoral candidate Gevorg Hovsepyan
Reformers party with mayoral candidate
Orinats Yerkir party with mayoral candidate Mher Shahgeldyan.
For being elected the parties must gather more than 6% of votes, the allies 8%.
According to forecasts, the main fight will be elaborated among My Step alliance, Prosperous Armenia Party and Luys alliance.
Yerevan has remained without mayor from July 9 when ex mayor Taron Margaryan resigned.
