High voter turnout registered at Yerevan City Council elections: CEC Chairman
The utmost transparency has been ensured during the election process, Central Electoral Commission Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan told the reporters on Monday.
Referring to the voter turnout, Mukuchyan said it speaks of quite high activity.
“If in the first half of the day, the number of people visiting polling stations was small, from the second half their number grew, ensuring high voter turnout,” the CEC president said.
The voter turnout in snap Yerevan City Council elections was 370,323 of eligible 848,343 voters which made the 43.65% percent of the total number of eligible voters.
As to when the new City Council will pass to work, Mukuchyan said that after the final summarization of the results the mandates will be provided and according to the regulations of the Law on Yerevan’s City Municpal Governance the day and hour of the first session will be set up.
