Armenia’s PM discusses conduction of snap parliamentary elections with UN Secretary General
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met in UN headquarters with UN Secretary General António Guterres.
Prime Minister attached significance to the close and firm cooperation between the Armenian government and the UN in protection and strengthening values declared by the UN.
The PM stressed that the bilateral effective cooperation promotes the implementation of reforms in different spheres and voiced hope that these programs will be of continuative and developing nature.
Pashinyan said Armenia is actively engaged in the UN’s works and the targeted support of the organization will strengthen Armenia’s development potential.
António Guterres voiced conviction that the effective cooperation with Armenia will continue developing. Referring to the political changes in Armenia, the UN Secretary General said the peaceful transition of power in Armenia is a bright example for all the countries and voiced hope that Armenia will continue developing by carrying out reforms in different spheres.
The parties exchanged thoughts over conduction of snap parliamentary elections in Armenia and implementation of reforms which will exclude possible election frauds. In this regard Pashinyan attached importance to necessity of UN’s technical and continous support.
During the meeting the parties also referred to Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. Armenia’s PM expressed gratitude to UN Secretary General for full support to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office addressed to peaceful settlement of the conflict.
