Yerevan City Council to comprise of My Step, Luys blocs and Prosperous Armenia Party
My Step bloc has become the leader at yesterday’s Yerevan City Council elections getting 81.05% of votes (294,109 voters), Central Electoral Commission president Tigran Mukuchyan said, presenting the results of the voting.
He said 7,517 ballots were recognized invalid.
The second in turn comes the Prosperous Armenia party with 6.95% or 25,219 votes followed by Luys bloc with 4.99% or 18,122 votes.
These three forces will be included in the new staff of the Yerevan City Council, though Luys has not overcome the 8% threshold.
The CEC president said if at least three parties or blocs do not pass the necessary threshold, the mandates are being distributed among the first three blocs or parties which received the majority of the votes. Consequently, the City Council will comprise of My Step bloc, PAP and Luys bloc. The mayor will be Hayk Marutyan.
The Heritage party with mayoral candidate Raffi Hovhannisian was backed by 0.75% or 2,709 votes.
Yerkir Tsirani with mayoral candidate Zaruhi Postanjyan received 1.39% or 5,059 votes.
Yerevantsiner bloc with mayoral candidate Ararat Zurabyan was backed by 0.82 or 2,985 votes. The ARF-D received 5,882 votes (1.62%), Orinats Yerkir 3,984 votes (1.09%).
Yerevan community bloc received 2,502 votes (0.69%), Democratic Line party 799 votes (0.22%), Hayk party 692 or 0.19% and Reformists party 792 votes or 0.22% of the votes.
According to the Electoral Code, the 65 mandates of the members of the Yerevan City Council are being distributed among the election lists of parties and blocs which received at least 6% in case of parties and 8% in case of blocs.
The voter turnout in the elections made 43.66%.
