“Armenia” exhibition in New York’s Metropolitan Museum unprecedented: Armenia’s PM
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and His Holiness Karekin II visited Armenia exhibition opened in New York’s Metropolitan Museum.
Governmental press service reports that the prime minister walked in the pavilions, got familiarized with the best samples of Armenian art and culture dating back to 4th up to 17th centuries.
The PM noted that the 2018 is symbolizing year which has noticeably strengthened Armenian-American cultural ties.
“This year the Armenian culture is being presented in the United States to our American friends in an unprecedented way. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Armenian presence in the American land,” the PM said, stressing that earlier this year the Armenian culture was presented in the U.S. capital Washington D.C. which gave an opportunity to present it to the American people and tourists from all around the world.
The PM noted that the exhibition takes place in one of the most significant museums of the world – Metropolitan - and presents the masterpieces of the Armenian heritage. He expressed conviction that it will change Americans’ perception of Armenia and the Armenian art.
“Thanks to this significant initiative tens of thousands visitors of Metropolitan will get familiarized with the historic and cultural heritage of Armenia which was the first to adopt Christianity as a state religion,” the PM said.
Pashinyan also stressed that the exhibition became possible with the efforts of Helen Evans and her colleagues. The PM also thanked the leadership of the museum, coordinators of the event, donators, Foundations, Holy See of St. Etchmiadzin, Armenian Patriarchates of Jerusalem and Constantinople.
The exhibition presents over 140 best samples of Armenian art and culture from 4-17th centuries.
