Armenia’s FM draws attention of Minsk Group co-chairs on escalation of situation by Azerbaijan
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrap Mnatsakanyan who is in New York to participate in the works of the 73d summit of the UN General Assembly, met on September 25 with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France), Andrew Schofer (the USA) as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
Minister Mnatsakanyan reiterated Armenia’s commitment to exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and stressed the necessity of formation peace-promoting atmosphere. He stressed the importance to give up steps addressed toward escalation of the situation and bellicose statements.
Regarding this, Mnatsakanyan draw the attention of the co-chairs to the periodical attempts to escalate the situation by Azerbaijan on the borders with Armenia and Karabakh which resulted in the death of two Armenian servicemen.
The minister stressed that Baku’s such steps seriously endanger the peace process.
During the meeting the interlocutors also exchanged thoughts over the coming meeting of the FMs.
