Armenia’s number one agenda issue is conduction of snap parliamentary elections: Armenia’s PM
The number one agenda issue for citizens of Armenia is conduction of snap parliamentary elections, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said after the meeting with head of the Republican party faction Vahram Baghdasaryan.
According to him, until this issue is solved, no issue will be solved in the country.
“As of the moment, the republicans state that the parliamentary elections should take place in 2022. My opinion is that it is unconstructive position as the political processes in the country have raised the necessity of conduction of parliamentary elections. Today it is number one agenda issue for the Armenian people. Until this issue is solved, no other issue may be solved in the country because all are waiting for snap parliamentary elections with held breath,” Pashinyan stressed.
“If one of the political forces oppose this process, it means they want people keep holding their breath which is a wrong approach,” the PM stressed, excluding possibility of regular parliamentary elections.
“According to acting Constitution the 1/3 of the parliament must be opposition. If one of the political forces receives 80% of votes it does not mean that the opposition will get less seats. It will mean that the authorities will be a majority which in its turn will give opportunity for it to act completely and deal with country’s issues. We will have legitimate authorities, parliamentary majority and legitimate minority,” he said.
