Snap parliamentary elections may be conducted in accordance with old Electoral Code: MP
After the conduction of snap parliamentary elections the country will have an opposition, Yelk faction member Edmon Marukyan said at a briefing on Monday, speaking about snap parliamentary elections.
“We support every scenario of parliament dissolution,” Marukyan said, adding that no arrangement has been reached between them and the PM for the discussion of the issue yet.
As to their chances in the elections, Marukyan stressed that the Yerevan elections showed that they are the third political force. “So if the elections are conducted tomorrow we may become the second force, but I cannot guarantee for other forces,” he said.
Speaking about possibility of conducting elections in December, Marukyan said the amendments in the Electoral Code should be adopted before that and the conclusion of the Venice Committee be received which is rather long-lasting process.
He said that if elections are scheduled in December, more probably they will be conducted in accordance with old Electoral Code.
