Armenia’s PM offers either constitutional reforms or agreement
The political will to conduct free and legal elections is more important than the legislations which are first being successfully adopted and then violated, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said after the meeting with the head of the Republican party faction Vahram Baghdasaryan, in response to the question about new Electoral Code.
“The new Electoral Code has not been adopted, but we have witnessed elections with written, rewritten and reformed code and elections with the same Code in new situation,” the premier said.
He said he is going to discuss conduction of snap parliamentary elections with the heads of other parliamentary factions as well as representatives of extra parliamentary forces.
“I offer two variants. The first one is the constitutional reforms, the second is signing agreement that on certain day the PM resigns and the political forces do not nominate candidacies twice and parliamentary elections take place. Both variants have their privileges and risks. We must think which one to choose,” Pashinyan said.
