ARF-D receives no invitation from PM to discuss conduction of snap parliamentary elections
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) has not received invitation from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss the issue on conduction of snap parliamentary elections, ARF-D faction head Armen Rustamyan told the reporters on Tuesday.
“We are for the conduction of elections but against their immediate conduction,” he said, adding that they should be conducted after necessary logical steps.
The first step, according to him, is the conduction of elections by the new Electoral Code which has a rating system.
Rustamyan stated that less than a year is necessary for implementing the necessary steps and solution of all the issues.
He also noted that the Yerevan City Council elections should not be viewed as a basis for speeded-up conduction of snap parliamentary elections.
“In essence, they were not City Council elections but a referendum, a local referendum in Yerevan. To speak frankly, we did not know that we are participating in a referendum, we thought they were City Council elections. But if it is viewed so that the referendum included question to conduct snap parliamentary elections or not, then I think the results of the referendum were summed up incorrectly – not the 82% wants it but the 100%,” Rustamyan noted.
