Luckily the world had an opportunity to enjoy Charles Aznavour for a century: Ara Babloyan
Armenia’s National Assembly Chairman Ara Babloyan visited today Charles Aznavour’s Yerevan residence to write down a note in the Book of Condolences opened there.
Speaking to reporters, Babloyan said he is proud to have an opportunity to know Aznavour, to be his friend.
“I love Charles’ all songs. It is impossible to outline one. I am a Francophone and I am firmly tied with France and Charles has contributed to it,” the NA speaker said.
He said they know each other for quite a long time.
“We know each other from the earthquake years. First I had an opportunity to see him closely, exchange few words. As doctors we were working on the quake site. But in 1991 when I was appointed Health Minister we had more chances for contacts. The country was blockaded, there was a war situation and our meetings were more practical as “Aznavour for Armenia” (Aznavour Pour Arménie) Foundation was carrying out continuous activity in Armenia. After my resignation from the post, we continued our contacts which turned from official ones into friendly. I am very proud to be his friend,” Babloyan said, adding, “We have lost a great personality, luckily the world had an opportunity to enjoy this personality for a century.”
