Conduction of snap parliamentary elections in Armenia is civil, pan-national demand: Armenia’s PM
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan came out of the National Assembly after negotiations with parliamentary factions that lasted more than two hours.
Addressing the people he said the negotiations passed in atmosphere of mutual respect with the political forces claiming they have perceived the people’s message and respect it.
The PM said he is going to resign in near future and the three factions said they are not going to nominate candidacy. The premier stressed that the elections will take place in the first half of December.
Speaking about the reasons of speeded-up conduction of snap parliamentary elections, the PM said, the first reason is political crisis created in the country and if they say let the elections be conducted in May, it means they want the crisis to continue for so long.
The second is that this has become the number one agenda issue.
“We may register that today we solved an important political issue: we showed that today the conduction of snap parliamentary elections in Armenia is civil, pan-national demand and those political forces which are against it, declare war to own people. My impression is that the Republican party, ARF-D, Tsarukyan factions perceived this message. But neither written nor oral final agreement has been reached. They only said that in such condition it is clear that they will not nominate candidate,” he said.
Pashinyan also stressed he has to contact with leaders of Francophone countries to discuss whether his resignation will create any issues for the conduction of the summit. “I will remain the acting PM and implement my functions,” he stressed.
