Armed Forces to implement their task in case of escalation of situation on the border agreed with political situation: DM

The armed forces will implement their task in case of escalation of situation on the border agreed with political situation, Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan said at a briefing today, adding that the situation on the border is calm now.

“As compared with the recent days today the least cases of violation of ceasefire regime have been registered,” the minister said.

To the observation that the Prime Minister ties the stability of the situation with the meeting with Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, Tonoyan said, “We have received order not to target and to preserve the ceasefire regime which we are implementing.”

As to whether the upcoming resignation of the PM may affect the situation on the border, the minister said, “I do not think so, in any case, we preserve the ceasefire regime as of the moment and if any changes occur agreed with political situation the Armed Forces will implement their task.”
