Moscow and Yerevan effectively cooperate despite political situation in Armenia: Russian deputy FM
The cooperation between Moscow and Yerevan continues despite the political situation in Armenia, Grigory Karasin, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister told Russian Izvestia paper.
“Despite the maintenance of certain domestic political instability in Armenia joint work is being carried out in certain directions of cooperation. We have also registered a positive dynamics of mutual trade turnover,” he said, adding that in the first half of 2018 it has grown by 23.4% as compared with the same span of the past year making 925,6 million USD.
The diplomat stressed that the parties continue intensive dialogue. “The leaders of the two countries met three times in couple of months. Two meetings were held between Armenia’s and Russia’s PMs. Our leaders have few times communicated on phones,” he said.
Karasin expressed opinion that the frequent contacts between Moscow and Yerevan will result in further strengthening of relations between Armenia and Russia both in bilateral format and in general integration units.
