Armenia’s current NA de facto dissolved: PM
If someone has decided to bother the people and create problems, the people know how to liquidate this problem, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, speaking to reporters today.
As to whether blockading the NA building and putting pressures on lawmakers was not anti-constitutional, the PM said that lawmakers must represent people in the NA.
“If it is not so, the MP should think over his mandate. They claim to have supporters and conduct rallies, let them do that. In Armenia everyone is free to conduct rallies, and I will seriously discuss the opportunity to deliver a speech at that rally,” the PM said.
Pashinyan also stressed that this National Assembly is de facto dissolved and it remains to do it de jure.
As to the observation that Pashinyan is afraid of his rating go down, the PM advised to read the analyses voiced in May which predicted the downfall of his rating in five months. “While we may state that days ago a social opinion poll took place [means the rally at the NA] which showed that the trust toward the leader of the state is unprecedented in the history of the third Republic,” he said.
As to the dissatisfaction of the PACE rapporteurs of his activity, the PM stressed that he has communicated with them and has not noticed any dissatisfaction.
“I would say that it does not bring honor to Republican MPs and to our delegation to PACE to present the situation in Armenia incorrectly. This is another reason for conduction snap parliamentary elections. Our delegation in PACE does not represent anyone. It represents the previous corrupted system and one should not treat their statements seriously,” Pashinyan concluded.
