Republican party had and has no intention to nominate its candidate: statement
The Republican faction has issued a statement on the conduction of snap parliamentary elections.
The statement says that the faction remains loyal to the adopted policy and does not impede the works of the government.
“As to snap elections, we have stated many times our position: we are not against them. The only responsible for them is the Armenian government. For us, the sensible time for conduction of snap parliamentary elections is May-June. This period will give an opportunity for full discussion and adoption of new Electoral code, besides it will allow reaching arrangements with the international institutions for acquiring necessary technical means for conduction transparent elections,” the statement says.
“We have expressed our readiness to come up with a joint statement with political forces over conduction of snap parliamentary elections in May-June. Irrespective of this all, not accepting the justifications of the government for conducting elections in December, the Republican faction did not have and does not have an intention to nominate its candidate. Our approach on conducting elections in spring is agreed only with the necessity to form new parliament with democratic principles,” the statement concluded.
